Located on our spacious campus at Bundaberg East, Anglicare SQ’s fully accredited service of Meilene, is strengthened by a team of values-driven professionals who sincerely care about what we do and the difference we make in our residents’ lives. The service is focused on providing excellent 24 hour nursing and care assistance and also provides special accommodation and recreational amenities for those with dementia. Short-term residential respite is also available. Meaning 'welcome', Meilene is the name of the homestead which originally stood on the property.To keep the facility looking its best, we require the support of a volunteer Maintenance Assistant.

We are looking for a helpful, friendly “jack of all trades” who like fixing things and has some time to give to others. You will be supporting our paid maintenance staff with minor repairs and offer:          

  • An interest in property and equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Capability to perform general duties such as painting and cleaning
  • The initiative to report and discuss any issues or required repairs with your supervisor
  • Ability to work under the direction of staff, performing manual work
  • Understanding of equipment and tools, including correct use and storage
  • The motivation to make a difference in other people’s lives
  • A patient, friendly and mature attitude and a respect for confidentiality and privacy
  • Flexibility, commitment and ability to work both independently and maintain professional boundaries
  • Respect, care and courtesy towards others and yourself - including workplace health and safety procedures

Other requirements include:

  • Availability – at least one shift (4 hours) per week, during business hours
  • Consistency and reliability – willing to commit to an ongoing basis for at least 6 months
  • Confidentiality – this is critical to us and you will need to sign a Role Description which includes a confidentiality agreement
  • Two (2) referees – who are not relatives and can vouch for your character and interaction in the community (ie. Work Colleague, Church Elder, Community Leader , Doctor or other Professional)
  • National Police Clearance – we organise and pay for this if you don’t already have one
